With over 20 years experience in both the harp and violin, Tasha Smith Godinez is an accomplished musician and teacher. Ms. Smith Godinez debuted as a soloist at age 16 and has since graced stages worldwide. Ms. Smith Godinez began her musical studies at age 4 with violin and age 8 on the harp.
With the harp, Tasha Has studied with Isabelle Perrin, Elena Mashkovtseva, and Susan Allen. She graduated with honors from San Diego State University where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in harp performance (2005). Upon Graduation from SDSU she moved to Paris, France to study with the world renowned harpist, Isabelle Perrin, at L'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. In Paris, she also finished with honors when she was awarded the only unanimous vote from the jury. Ms. Smith Godinez received a Diplome de L'Execution de la Harpe (French equivalent of a master's degree in harp performance) from L'Ecole Normale de Music de Paris (2006). Tasha has also received a master's degree in harp performance from San Diego State University (2010).

Notable accomplishments of students from the San Diego Harp academy include acceptance into top music schools and harp programs. Former students are now studying at the Royal Academy of London, University of Puget Sound and Princeton. Current students have also been accepted into harp programs including the American Youth Harp Ensemble.
Since 2007 the San Diego Harp Academy has been training harpists of all ages to play and enjoy harp music. The goal of the academy is to continue the performance and appreciation of one of the world's oldest instruments. Our students are encouraged to practice, perform and have fun while learning the technical and musical skills necessary to succeed.
